Jay Whitsett
Vice President of Programming, Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Inc.



Over the course of his 28 years in broadcasting, Jay Whitsett has earned over 40 awards from a diverse group of organizations.  Having done work for a number of broadcast stations and programs, Whitsett currently serves as the Vice President of Programming for Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Inc. (CPBI).

Jay’s primary responsibility is to develop a local program agenda that will insure the station’s vision and programming polices and objectives are carried out. He also oversees long-range and monthly program scheduling for CPTV’s main channel, its sister station CPTV 2 and their HD (high definition) program service. In addition, he manages the Education and Outreach departments as well as the station’s new media initiatives.

Previously, Whitsett served CPBI as Vice President of Broadcast, Operations and Engineering, Manager for Program Production, Senior Producer Director, Producer Director, Associate Producer, Assistant Director, Production Assistant, and a member of the production crew. He continues to freelance as a producer/director/executive producer.

He is a graduate of Syracuse University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Television and Radio from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a Certificate for a minor in Social Work.
