March 22, 2008

Motion picture trade union representatives will be available on Saturday, March 22, 2008, from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Omni Hotel in New Haven. The Connecticut Office for Workforce Competitiveness (OWC) has arranged this opportunity for resident non-union, freelance production crew personnel with significant professional experience in some aspect of the industry to learn how to apply and begin the process for union membership. Connecticut is seeing more and more feature production and the objective of this day is to encourage further union membership and to establish a larger in-state crew base. Stop by during the day and find out how the application, examination, and selection process works.

Rewind:
December Holiday Gathering

Indulging in a buffet of assorted pizzas, Caesar salad, chicken piccata and more, about 25 MCAICT members and guests enjoyed a holiday gathering on December 11 at Bertucci’s Restaurant in Shelton. Attendees enjoyed catching up with industry friends and meeting new contacts in a casual atmosphere.

We collected over $200 for Connecticut Food Bank. In a thank you letter, Executive Director Nancy Carrington said, “I am very grateful to you for sharing what you can to help our neighbors who must rely on food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters and residential programs to meet their needs. On their behalf, I send you and your family best wishes for a safe, happy and healthy New Year.”

Thank you to all who attended and who gave to such a worthy cause.
